Scene of An Accident

If you are involved in an accident caused by another driver of a car, SUV, truck, motorcycle, semi, etc .. . there are things you must do to protect your rights at the scene of the accident. You need to call the police and assuming you are injured and the accident was not minor, they should come. But if they don't, you must get from the at fault driver his or her insurance information and if they refuse to cooperate, do not give up. It is a violation of law to not provide your insurance information at the scene of an accident.

Call the police back and tell them while the other driver is there (make sure they don't leave) that the other driver is refusing to comply with the law and provide their full insurance information. Take photos of the damage to your car and the other vehicle at the scene and if you can, the location where the accident occurred to provide a perspective. Also, this is vitally important. Go to a doctor, Emergency Room or Urgent Care on the day of the accident if you are injured and do NOT wait several days. It is bad for your health and your case to wait to seek medical help.
